The word it out

My students noticed my little baby bump this week in class. One of my students asked me when I planned on having children, attempting to politely ask if I am pregnant. She said that she was worried that I just hadn't gone to the gym lately. They were all really excited to hear that I was and mad that I didn't tell them sooner. I only told one class, and all of my classes knew by the next school day. It is funny how kids react in different ways. I heard all kinds of "when my mom/aunt/neighbor/sister was pregnant..."stories. I've also had students leave me notes and pictures on assignments they turn in. Most are pictures of a stick figure me with a big belly and name recommendations.

I went for my almost four month check up this week. I got to hear the Baby's heart again. This time, it was much easier for the doctor to find and easier for me to hear. Our next appointment will be when we see him/her for the first time! We are so excited to find out if we are having a girl or boy! Today, Jeff said he has a feeling it's a girl.

Maverick and Sloopy love Jeff so much! I'm not sure where the baby is going to fit in here, but I'm sure he/she will squeeze in too!

We call him/her baby Carlos :)

Today I am at 13 weeks 2 days, which puts me into the second trimester. I am really lucky with how easy my first was and really hope it continues to be so easy! I have my ultrasound in a little over a month to find out the sex of the baby. Can't wait! The ultrasound is on April Fools day; I'm sure that will make for a good story. Last weekend, Jeff's parents came to visit for the first time since announcing the new addition. It was great seeing them and hanging out. We went to the best Italian Restaurant for dinner!

Jeff calls our baby Carlos. For those of you that have seen "The Hangover", yes it is after that baby. We found out about Carlos before Christmas, which is when the movie came on DVD. After watching the movie about 10 times in one week, it only seemed natural to give our baby the same nickname. Can't wait to meet him/her and give Carlos a real name! Our friends Kate and Dylan gave us some onesies with the Carlos from the movie printed on them; I'll post pics later for all to see. It will be difficult explaining to the kid later why he/she wore those onesies!

It's official

Monday Jeff and I went to the Dr. and heard baby Elchert's heartbeat for the first time. We were both nervous that we wouldn't be able to hear it, but were relieved when we finally did. Hearing the heartbeat made it feel even more real! Can't wait to feel him/her now! But, would love if my pants would stop getting tighter... August will be here before we know it :)
